PARIS (AP) — Uruguay forward Diego Rolan scored the winner as Bordeaux beat Saint-Etienne 1-0 on Sunday to edge closer to fourth place in the French league.
Rolan ran onto a cross behind the Saint-Etienne defense in the 42nd minute and sent the ball low past goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier for his seventh league goal of the season. Rolan almost got a second goal in the 60th, when he went clean through but hit the post after clipping the ball neatly past Ruffier.
