Southampton beats QPR 1-0 in Premier League

LONDON (AP) — Sadio Mane scored in injury time to give Southampton a 1-0 win over struggling Queens Park Rangers and keep the club in the top four of the Premier League.
Mane received the ball in the area in the third minute of added time, turned swiftly and shot into the top corner to lift Southampton provisionally above Manchester United into third. It was one of the few clear chances created in the second half for the visitors in a drab encounter, as QPR fell to its fifth straight loss in its first game since manager Harry Redknapp resigned.
Jose Fonte had come closest to scoring for Southampton when he hit the crossbar. QPR stayed 19th, two points above last-place Leicester.
